Meet our staff:

Dr. Mona Bhalla

Functional Medicine Doctor
Doctor

I’m a board-certified Naturopathic Physician from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. I’ve been practicing medicine for the past 18 years, primarily in my own private practice. I’m not like most doctors. I believe in the power of diet, mental health, and lifestyle balance as the most powerful healer. I take a smaller number of patients so I can give them significantly more time and attention. If you’re tired of rushed doctor’s appointments and being told: “there’s nothing you can do,” we’ll likely be a good fit together.

The Shit I've Been Through

When I was 21, while I was in marketing school, I started to bleed internally, with blood in my urine and stool. I woke up every day feeling truly awful. I was given all sorts of tests, passed from one specialty to another who poked and prodded me in all different ways, but none of them had answers. Actually, none of them ever even asked me anything about me or my life.

Finally, after months, I went to see a holistic doctor who was a friend of my family. She was the first person who took the time to get to know me and what was going on in my life. For the first time, I felt connected to the person who was helping me. She suggested all my symptoms were related to deep, underlying stress. Oddly enough, she prescribed me a vacation!

On that vacation, all my symptoms went away immediately. Simply taking a break from my life and doing what I truly love relieved everything.

When I got back from my vacation, slowly I noticed my symptoms coming back, and it was clear as day to me that my illness was created by my lifestyle. This was such an illuminating experience. This was the experience that inspired me to want to be a Naturopathic Doctor, and I could not be happier to be still practicing today after 18 years.

Why I Love Being a Functional Medicine Doctor

I love being a doctor because I get to introduce my clients to life-changing health tools every day. Natural and lifestyle medicine is what transformed my life, and I offer that back to my patients.

I love the feeling of watching my patients become more empowered in their health and learning to navigate healing on their own. I am just as much a guide and mentor to my patients as I am a doctor.

What I love Outside Work

Yoga, Nature, and spending time with my children.

Why I Work at Wisdom

Wisdom is such a great place to work because it allows me to treat patients in the way I know is best. They’ve designed a care model that truly addresses the challenges of managing chronic conditions.
